Homeless shelters around the world.
Here are international listings of homeless shelters. Most of the links on this page have search engines for each country and for each state and city in the US. These shelters typically provide a place to sleep for the night, food, showers, and sometimes other services like a clothing bank and blankets. Usually these shelters will also have referrals to other services needed.
Help for Teens
If you are a teenager and are thinking about running away from home, or if you are already living on the streets, call the National Runaway Switchboard. The Switchboard is a toll free, confidential hotline. The Switchboard staff will listen to you and help you think about what you need and want to do next. They also can tell you about people in your community who can help you. Call 1-800-RUNAWAY or visit the Switchboard's website at http://www.1800runaway.org/

US Social Services
Type in your city and state to see what's available in your region. This is where you will find even the small local food and clothing banks and free health clinics.
Thrift Stores
Find your local Salvation Army, Goodwill or other thrift stores. Listings in Canada, the UK, Europe, and Australia too.
America's Job Bank
Jobs listed nation wide by The US Department of Labor. Free search engine to almost one million listings.

Yellow Pages
Search the telephone Yellow Pages online of any city or state. This search engine is the biggest single resource of information anywhere for the US. For outside the US try Yellow Book
Transportation
Everything you want to know about bus, plane and train lines around the world. Schedules and rates. Includes some other types of transportation as well.
Maps
Find out where you are or where you want to be and which way to go to get there. You will have to click through a few pop up ads on this site but the search engine will take you to maps that will walk you through downtown or plan your trip cross country. Familiar and easy to follow Rand McNally maps and tells you the weather too. Excellent resource!
Pro Bono Lawyers
Pro bono, or volunteer lawyer programs, are available to provide free legal services to those who cannot afford a lawyer. These programs are available in all 50 states and in most countries.

Set up times with friends and family in advance to meet at this chat room as a free way to communicate worldwide in real time.
Free E-mail
By getting your own free email account you open up a lot more ways of communicating online. This can aid you in receiving the information that you need. If you are new to the internet this is where you begin. You will be able to send and receive mail from any internet access worldwide for free.
